WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - DOUBLE-ELIMINATION TO THE FINALS

RISK® E-Mail: Risktoc@fast.net

Dear RISK Enthusiasts:

The 20th Anniversary has finally arrived!  In 1988, plans were unveiling for the 1st annual. We knew way back when that there were RISK fans “out-there” but we never expected the legions of players worldwide that held the same passion as we do. We have had the privilege to meet some of these RISK diplomats during the span of the event.

Many players that compete at the TOC have honed their own skills and have become very dangerous competitors. We tip our hats to those that “kept at it” and never gave up! Anyone can win this event, however it will not come easy. Many new players underestimated their competition through the years and witnessed firsthand the competitive spirit of their RISK opponents. In most cases win or lose, the experience of the RISK championship has been positive for those who dared journey into the realm of battle for the glory of winning a world RISK championship.

Last year, we saw many new faces and a few came on strong all the way to the finals only to succumb to seasoned veteran and former champion Dr. Richard Gray of Levittown, Pennsylvania. Dr. Richard Gray of Levittown, PennsylvaniaRichard strategically & flawlessly pillaged his way into the finals. He ended up choosing an eight day and seven night condo dream vacation  provided by Do You Want To Travel, LLC. His first world title was claimed in 1999 at the Comfort Suites in Bethlehem, Pa. To those that toiled their way into the finals in 2007, it was not an easy task and you proved yourselves worthy opponents! Again, anyone can climb to the finals & win but it will have to be EARNED

Preparing for the event is always a challenge for our volunteer staff. Many have contributed their valuable time and resources to keep this event running strong! For that we are extremely grateful, the event would not have survived without your generosity. As the workload got bigger, so did everyone’s hearts! Those memories will be cherished forever. Thank you so much for your kindness.

So here we are twenty years later and as usual there are a few surprises in the mix. To those that look forward to our trophies each year, the 20th will be one to revere. We always liked to accentuate the trophies but it really is the social atmosphere of the tournament that produces the most compliments. Nothing beats a great conversation “***General to General***” before

AND after war….. It helps that the only thing being flung in war are dice!

We would like to bestow our grateful thanks to our regular RISK legionnaires for their devoted support and talent through these 20 long years. There are no doubts that memories of this Steve's Decompression Pagechallenging event will last throughout your lifetime and who can ask for more than that from our perspective. We were happy to have met you and we hope you felt the same way.

If you plan on making the trek to the 20th Anniversary, please keep in mind that your opponents are also your friends. Great championships and great friendships go very well together so start packing your travel bags and we’ll see you soon enough!

If you think you have what it takes to claim the title, just remember: Canada has claimed the title one time, New Jersey has claimed it two times, and the rest? Well, lets just say that Pennsylvanians have snared the rest of them. Is it safe to say that Pennsylvania has the best RISK players in the world? In my opinion, I believe they do, the record speaks for itself!

If you doubt it, you’ll have to prove yourself to say otherwise.

Sincerely,
Steven P.
Tournament Director
